Resources to meet the mission ...
In addition to membership and program fees, the YMCA of Southwest Illinois relies on
support from the United Way, private foundations, corporations and donations from
the community to help bring our programs and services to needy and disadvantaged
children in our community. Our promise is to never turn anyone away for their inability to pay.
Here are ways you can help:
Partner with Youth Campaign
The YMCA Partner with Youth Campaign is one of the Y's most
important programs as it provides needy and disadvantaged children an
opportunity to obtain membership and participate in any Y program. These
contributions allow children a chance to learn positive character values while
experiencing a variety of sports programs and challenge-education activities.
The YMCA of Southwest Illinois welcomes your financial support, and volunteer
abilities to help raise funds during February and March for a six-week annual campaign. A gift of $250 is considered a major donation and is
recognized by a plaque to the individual or business to demonstrate your
support. At the banner level, with a minimum donation of $1,100 you or your
company will be
recognized on a 3'x5' banner displayed for one year in a YMCA of your
choice. Partner with Youth
-- helps to build strong kids in our community. Please contact the
Financial Development Office as to how you can get involved.
Endowment Fund -- Lamplighter Society
Generous endowment support allows the Y to turn what might
have been into what is. Wills, bequests, stocks and charitable gift annuities
are a few examples of planned giving. Give a gift that will continue giving
for generations. Contact the Y's Financial Development Office to find out
how you can join the Lamplighter Society -- it's a great way to leave a
lasting impression on a child's life. The Lamplighter Society recognizes
individuals who remember the YMCA of Southwest Illinois in their estate
plans or make an outright gift to the Endowment Fund.
To become a Lamplighter:
-
Make an outright gift of money, land, stock, insurance, mineral
rights or an individual fractional interest to the Endowment Fund of the
YMCA.
-
Make or revise a will directing a percentage, a fixed amount,
or through a contingency statement, an eventual gift to the YMCA Endowment
Fund.
-
Name the YMCA Endowment Fund as a primary or secondary beneficiary
of a new or existing insurance policy.
-
Create a Charitable Remainder Unitrust or an Annuity Trust,
a Pooled Life Income, a Charitable Gift Annuity, a Short-Term Trust, a
Life Estate or Bank Deposit that eventually directs all or a portion of
the principal to the YMCA Endowment Fund.

Our most important resource...
Volunteers make the YMCA of Southwest Illinois operate efficiently, from the Board
of Directors, to answering phones, to those who help children learn to swim and those who teach youth to lead through
backpacking or rock climbing adventures. If you have time and a special talent,
the Y could use your service. Your talent may be answering the phones with a
pleasant phone voice, coaching basketball, asking people to give generously to
the Partner with Youth Drive, computer skills or stuffing envelopes. Give the
Y a chance to harness your talents and energy for the benefit of our youth and community.
